How to Master Nervous System Regulation for Better Health Part 2

One of the most heartbreaking things I see is when someone excitedly starts the 30 Day Magnesium Soaking Challenge, commits to soaking regularly, and gets their Magnesium RBC blood work done but finds their magnesium levels haven’t improved as expected. This can be incredibly discouraging. However, it’s important to understand that this is often due to a crack in the system—specifically, nervous system dysregulation. Magnesium helps shine a light on what’s happening in your body and what it needs. Without addressing this underlying issue, soaking in Magnesium Soak might not yield the full benefits you’re seeking.

The Importance of Nervous System Regulation

When our nervous system is dysregulated, magnesium is consistently pushed out of our bodies. Magnesium is essential for regulating the nervous system, but when we are stressed, it is the first thing our bodies eliminate through urine. To truly benefit from magnesium, we need to focus on regulating our nervous system.

Recognizing Signs of Nervous System Dysregulation

Signs of nervous system dysregulation include difficulty sleeping, hypervigilance, and being a people-pleaser. If you’re tired but wired at night or notice every detail in a room, these could be signs of a dysregulated nervous system. Another sign is swallowing your emotions to avoid conflict, which can lead to further stress and magnesium loss.

Positive Internal Dialogue and Neuroplasticity

One effective tactic to combat nervous system dysregulation is to cultivate a positive internal dialogue. Negative thoughts are as stressful as external stressors and can increase adrenaline levels. Reframing these thoughts and maintaining a positive outlook can help regulate your nervous system. Remember, the brain is neuroplastic—it can grow, change, and be rewired.

For instance, I used to have an overreactive response to everything. It took years to realize this was a sign of nervous system dysregulation. Understanding this allowed me to focus on positive change. Another helpful technique is to talk back to negative thoughts. A wise mentor once taught me to acknowledge negative thoughts and then dismiss them with a hand motion, like saying, “Get out of town, girlfriend."

Creating Healthy Habits for Nervous System Regulation

Creating a space inside your body where you prioritize health and positive thoughts is crucial. Negative thoughts can be as damaging as physical stress. By talking to yourself positively and being the CEO of your body, you can regulate your nervous system. It’s important to focus on what you can control and give weight to positive thoughts.
My husband, who is naturally calm, doesn’t need to soak in Magnesium Soak as often because his nervous system is naturally regulated. Learning to give less weight to stressful thoughts and focusing on calm can help improve your magnesium levels and overall health.

Taking Action for Better Health
To truly improve your health and magnesium levels, consider all factors: hydration, taurine levels, B vitamins, and sleep. However, the most important and often neglected aspect is nervous system regulation. Ask yourself, when was the last time you felt truly calm and peaceful? If it’s been more than 24 hours, it’s time to take action.

Women who feel good and regulate their nervous systems lift those around them. This is what Living the Good Life Naturally is all about. By adding tiny micro-actions and celebrating their success, you can achieve gradual improvement.
